Chicken Shredder Tool Review: The Little Kitchen Gadget That Saves Me So Much Time

Chicken Shredder Tool

Before I owned a chicken shredder tool, shredding chicken was one of those kitchen jobs that took me way too long.

I tend to buy chicken in bulk, so when I cooked it, I usually wasn’t dealing with just a couple of chicken breasts. I had a lot of chicken to shred.

I would sit there pulling it apart by hand, and depending on how much I had, it could easily take me an hour or more.

An hour or more just shredding chicken.

No, thank you.

One day I saw this little chicken shredder tool on Amazon. The price wasn’t too bad, and I figured it was worth giving it a try.

Let me tell you, when I say this little contraption works like a charm, I mean it.

Where has this thing been my whole life? LOL.

Why I Love My Chicken Shredder Tool

The biggest reason I love this thing is pretty simple. It saves me so much time.

Instead of sitting there pulling cooked chicken apart piece by piece, I put some chicken into the shredder, put the lid on, and twist the handles back and forth.

That’s it.

The little teeth inside pull the meat apart as I twist, and within a short amount of time, I have shredded chicken ready to use.

I also really like being able to see the chicken through the clear top. I can tell when it’s shredded the way I want it without constantly opening the lid to check.

The non-slip base helps hold it steady on the counter while I’m twisting, and mine even came with a little brush to help clean around the teeth.

It’s such a simple idea, but it works.

And because I buy chicken in bulk, that makes a big difference for me. A job that used to feel like it went on forever is something I can get through much more quickly.

It Works for More Than Just Chicken

Even though I mainly bought my chicken shredder tool for all that bulk chicken I was tired of shredding by hand, these tools aren’t limited to chicken.

They can also be used for tender cooked meats like pork and beef, which makes them handy for things like pulled pork, shredded beef, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, BBQ sandwiches, soups, casseroles, wraps, and all kinds of other meals.

I especially like having shredded chicken already prepared because there are so many things I can do with it.

If I’m already cooking chicken, I can make a larger batch, shred it all at once, and then portion it out for other meals. That gives me a head start on dinner later.

And anything that makes dinner easier on a busy day is a win in my book.

Is a Chicken Shredder Tool Worth the Money?

For me, yes.

There are plenty of kitchen gadgets out there that look clever but aren’t necessarily something I need taking up space in my kitchen.

This isn’t one of those for me.

I actually use mine quite a bit.

If you rarely make shredded chicken or pulled meat, you may be perfectly happy using two forks. But if you cook meat in bulk, meal prep regularly, or make a lot of recipes that call for shredded meat, I think a chicken shredder tool is well worth the money.

Mine wasn’t terribly expensive, which is one of the reasons I was willing to take a chance on it in the first place. Considering how much time it has saved me since then, I feel like I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth out of it.

One Little Kitchen Gadget That Gives Me Back Some Time

I think that’s what I appreciate most about this little gadget.

It doesn’t do anything fancy. It isn’t some big appliance that takes up half my counter. It just takes a kitchen chore that I don’t particularly enjoy and helps me get it done much faster.

Time is precious.

If I can spend less of mine sitting at the counter shredding chicken and more of it with my family, working on something I enjoy, going somewhere, or just doing something fun, I’ll happily take that trade.

I bought this chicken shredder tool hoping it might make one annoying kitchen job a little easier.

It definitely did.

And yes, I still wonder where this little contraption has been my whole life. LOL.

Making every house feel a little more like home.
