There are certain little things I look forward to every Christmas season, and pulling out a Christmas quilt set for each of our beds has definitely become one of them. I have about four different Christmas quilt designs now, and every year when I bring them out, I’m reminded how one simple change can make an entire bedroom feel warmer, cozier, and ready for Christmas.

I love decorating for Christmas, but I don’t think every room needs a Christmas tree or a complete makeover to feel festive.

Sometimes all it takes is changing the bedding.

And honestly, that may be one of the reasons I love our Christmas quilts so much.

They’re easy.

I take off our regular quilt, put the Christmas quilt set on the bed, add the matching shams and maybe a Christmas pillow or two, and suddenly the whole bedroom feels different.

It’s one of those little things that makes me happy every single year.

A Christmas Quilt Set Makes Such a Big Difference

I think bedrooms sometimes get forgotten when we decorate for Christmas.

We decorate the living room, put up the tree, add Christmas decorations to the kitchen, hang the stockings, decorate the front porch, and maybe even add a few Christmas towels to the bathrooms.

Then we walk into the bedroom and it still looks exactly like it did in October.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, of course.

But several years ago, I started collecting Christmas quilts for our beds, and now I look forward to putting them on every year.

A Christmas quilt set is such an easy way to bring Christmas into a bedroom without adding a lot of decorations or clutter.

The bed is already the largest thing in most bedrooms, so changing what is on it makes a surprisingly big impact.

You really don’t have to do much else.

I Have About Four Different Christmas Quilt Sets Now

Apparently, one Christmas quilt wasn’t enough for me!

Over the years, I’ve collected about four different designs of Christmas quilt sets for the beds in our home.

I don’t necessarily go looking for another one every year. I just keep an eye out for patterns that I really like.

That is one of the fun things about Christmas bedding. There are so many styles available.

You can find traditional red and green quilts, snowflakes, Christmas trees, plaids, snowmen, vintage Christmas patterns, farmhouse designs, and more subtle quilts that just happen to have Christmas colors.

You can make a bedroom feel playful and fun or very traditional and cozy.

And because a quilt can last for years, it isn’t something I feel like I have to replace every Christmas.

I simply fold ours away when the season is over and look forward to seeing them again the next year.

The Christmas Quilt Set in Our Master Bedroom

The Christmas quilt set I currently use in our master bedroom has that traditional Christmas look that I love.

It has a soft cream background with red Christmas designs throughout it, and I love how it looks with red Christmas pillows on the bed.

You can see the one I have here:

One thing that might be helpful to know is that we have a double adjustable bed.

Sometimes bedding can be a little tricky with an adjustable bed, especially when you’re trying to find something that looks nice while still working with the way the bed moves.

This quilt works great for ours.

I love that it gives us the festive look I want without making the bed complicated to use.

And when I walk into our bedroom during December and see that red and cream Christmas quilt, the whole room just feels happier to me.

You Don’t Have to Redecorate the Whole Bedroom

This is probably my favorite thing about seasonal bedding.

You don’t need to redecorate the entire room.

You don’t need new curtains.

You don’t need Christmas artwork on every wall.

You don’t even need a little Christmas tree in the corner, although I certainly wouldn’t discourage one if you love it!

A Christmas quilt set does most of the decorating for you.

Because the bed takes up so much visual space, the quilt becomes the Christmas decoration.

Add a couple of coordinating pillows, a cozy throw blanket, or maybe a little Christmas decoration on the nightstand, and you’re done.

I especially love decorating this way because when Christmas is over, cleanup is just as simple.

Fold up the quilt, put away the Christmas pillows, and bring your regular bedding back out.

That’s my kind of Christmas decorating.

It Has Become Part of Getting Ready for Christmas

I think this is the part I love most.

Our Christmas quilts aren’t just bedding anymore.

They’ve become part of the season.

There are things we do every year that quietly tell us Christmas is coming.

We pull out the decorations.

We put up the tree.

Christmas music starts playing.

The Christmas movies come out.

And somewhere in all of that, I change the bedding.

When I pull a Christmas quilt set out of storage and put it back on one of the beds, it feels a little bit like welcoming back an old friend.

I’ve seen that quilt during other Christmas seasons.

I’ve gone to sleep under it on cold December nights.

I’ve walked into the room on Christmas morning and seen it.

There is something comforting about bringing those same familiar things back year after year.

Christmas Quilt Sets Don’t Have to Be Expensive

Another reason I think this is such an easy decorating idea is that you can find Christmas quilts at so many different price points.

You don’t have to buy expensive bedding to make your bedroom feel festive.

And you certainly don’t need four sets!

Start with one Christmas quilt set for the room where you’ll enjoy it the most.

Maybe that’s your own bedroom.

Maybe it’s a guest room where family will be staying for Christmas.

Maybe it’s one of the kids’ rooms.

Then, if you love it as much as I do, you can add another design over time.

I think that’s how so many of my favorite Christmas things have accumulated. I didn’t go out one December and buy everything.

I found things I loved little by little.

Then, eventually, those things became part of our family’s Christmas.

A Few More Christmas Quilt Sets We Like

If the red and cream quilt on our master bed isn’t quite your style, we have some other Christmas quilt sets that we like too.

You can see some of those here:

I think choosing Christmas bedding is very personal.

Some people love bright red Christmas bedding.

Some want something more neutral.

Others want snowmen, reindeer, Christmas trees, or a vintage pattern.

That’s part of what makes this such a fun way to decorate.

Choose the one that makes you smile when you walk into the room.

How I Store Our Christmas Quilt Sets

Since I have several sets now, I treat them just like the rest of my Christmas decorations.

When Christmas is over, I make sure everything is clean before putting it away.

I fold the quilt and matching pillow shams together so I’m not searching for pieces the next year.

Then they go into storage with our other seasonal things.

When Christmas rolls around again, everything is together and ready to go.

It sounds like such a small thing, but keeping the entire Christmas quilt set together makes decorating much easier.

There is nothing quite like finding the quilt and then wondering where on earth you put the matching pillow shams!

One Simple Change Can Make a Home Feel Cozier

I think sometimes we make decorating our homes sound much more complicated than it needs to be.

A cozy home doesn’t have to be perfectly decorated.

It doesn’t have to look like a magazine.

And you definitely don’t need to replace everything you already own every time a new season comes around.

Sometimes the little changes are the ones we enjoy the most.

Put a Christmas quilt on the bed.

Add a soft blanket.

Turn on a little lamp instead of the overhead light.

Put a Christmas book on the nightstand.

Maybe add a little greenery or a flameless candle nearby.

Suddenly the bedroom feels completely different.

Warm.

Festive.

Inviting.

Cozy.

My Christmas Quilt Set Is One of My Favorite Finds

Of all the Christmas decorations I’ve collected over the years, I wouldn’t necessarily have expected bedding to become something I look forward to bringing out.

But it has.

Every year, I’m excited to pull our Christmas quilt sets out again.

They aren’t fancy.

They don’t take hours to arrange.

And they aren’t something anyone outside our family may ever even see.

But that’s actually part of why I love them.

They’re for us.

They’re one of those little things that make our home feel special during a season I love.

And when I climb into bed on a cold December night and look around at a bedroom that feels just a little more Christmasy because I changed the quilt, I’m reminded that making a home cozy really can be that simple.

Sometimes all it takes is one little change.

Making every house feel a little more like home.
